Drive Removal

Traditional procedure using a hinged clamp and service a rig

1. Install pony rod to polished rod 3 min
2. Attach elevator and lift polished rod 12" 3 min
3. Unbolt drive 8 min
4. Attach winch line and lift drive 12" 5 min
5. Install hinged clamp 6 min
6. Lower rods to set clamp on well head 3 min
7. Lower drive to clamp 2 min
8. Remove pony rod and coupling from polished rod 2 min
9. Winch drive off of polished rod and set on ground 4 min
10. Attach pony rod to polished rod 3 min
11. Attach elevator and raise polished rod 1 min
12. Remove hinged polished rod clamp 4 min
Total time to remove drive 44 min

Rod lock procedure

1. Tighten Rod lock clamp rams 5 min
2. Unbolt drive 8 min
3. Attach winch line and remove drive 4 min
4. Release Rod lock clamp 3 min
Total time to remove drive 20 min

Drive removal time savings 24 min

Drive Installation

Traditional Procedure using hinged clamp

1. Install hinged polished rod clamp 6 min
2. Set rod weight on well head and remove pony rod 5 min
3. Pick up drive head and install on polished rod 5 min
4. Attach pony rod to polished rod 3 min
5. Attach elevator and lift rod string 12" 2 min
6. Raise drive head with winch line 4 min
7. Remove hinged clamp 4 min
8. Lower drive head and install bolts 8 min
Total installation time 38 min

Installation using Rod Lock clamp

1. Close clamp rams 5 min
2. Remove pony rod 2 min
3. Install drive head and install bolts 8 min
Total installation time 15 min

Drive Installation time savings 23 min

Total time saving per well work over 45 min
